Meet Martin Lacko
Founder, Buildog Construction
My background in construction started in Slovakia, where I completed a four-year vocational secondary school program focused on building construction. We studied variety of construction methods, materials and building standards, covering everything from foundations to roofs.
Alongside that training, I gained practical experience on construction sites and in my family’s construction business.
I moved to Canada in 2015 and began working as a handyman. Later, I joined a stone masonry company, installing stone, tile, marble slabs and other surface finishes. That work developed my skills in precise installation and the preparation needed to achieve a lasting result.

Building Our Own Business
In 2022, my wife and I started Buildog Construction. I carry out the renovation work, while she helps with organization and administration.
Since then, our projects have included complete bathroom and kitchen renovations, stairs, flooring and basements. My work covers tile and stone installation, vinyl flooring, woodworking, framing and cabinet installation.
That broad construction background helps me understand how the different parts of a renovation fit together, from the structure and preparation through to the final finishes.
Serving Calgary & Surrounding Communities
